I hate to admit it but the iPhone/iPod Touch is a nice little gaming device.  I'm using my wife's iPod Touch that was handed down to me when we bought her an iPhone.  I've had the device for a couple months now and I like it.  Still can't stand iTunes but I like the iPod Touch.  My Treo misses me because I haven't played Bubble Breaker or Solitaire on it in some time.  The iPod Touch has pretty easily taken over as my mobile gaming device of choice.  That said, I wanted to bring up a particular game I am playing called Flight Control.  It's one of those games that shines as an example of simply but deep game play and I'm playing it like crazy.

The basic premise is simple; land as many planes on the appropriately colored runways without allowing any of them to crash.  The control scheme makes perfect use of the touch interface and I can't help but think what you could do with a game like this on the Microsoft Surface platform.  Anyway, the game is easily worth the $.99 download price.  The company is promising more airfields in the next update which is my only gripe with the game.  With only three airfields and a few plane types, the challenge of the game eventually gets repetitive; still, I can't stop playing it.

My personal bests so far: 96 planes on airfield 1, 143 planes on the easier airfield 2 and 51 planes on the difficult airfield 3.  I think airfield 2 is supposed to be harder but the extra helipad and the chosen launch locations of the various planes makes it much easier to handle than either of the other two airfields.  Good game that should be on any iPhone/iPod Touch.
